K2 Expedition
The 8611 meters K-2, the pyramid of Pakistan in the Karakoram chain was discovered in 1856 during a geo-political survey by British explorers, which later became a flash point for the mountain lovers. T.G. Montgomery, Godwin-Austin is the name among few who brought this treasure to the world�s vision. Since its exposure it has been attracting many mountaineers from all over the world. In 1954, an Italian expedition engraved an extraordinary feat on the rocks of K-2 as pioneers.
Broad Peak
Just beside K-2, the breadth-toped 8047m high Broad Peak offers a unique climbing option. In the year of 1957 an Austrian team consisting some of the legendary mountaineers assaulted the summit for the first time. It is the 3rd highest in Karakoram Range and fourth highest in Pakistan. Owing to its unusual wide top, locally known as �Falchan Kangri� and also bear the name of triple-headed Breithorn of Baltoro Glacier. The peak is located on the west end of the Baltoro glacier. A five days trek via Baltoro glacier takes up to the Broad Peak base camp.
Nanga Parbat
8125m high Nanga Parbat, the Naked Mountain is the anchor peak of the Great Himalayas is the second highest peak in Pakistan. It has a bad connotation of the �Killer Mountain� prompted the name because after Everest and Annapurna, this peak has claimed the lives of climbers. Nanga Parbat is counted the most difficult among the fourteen peaks on earth that exceed 8000 meters. The first ascent was done by Hermann Buhl of an Austro-German expedition in 1953 just after few weeks of Everest climbed by Sir Edmund Hillary.
Gashabrum I & II
Six flanking peaks in the south east of Concordia forms the �shining wall� of Gasherbrum family. Among them the 8,068m Gasherbrum I is the tallest peak also popular as Hidden Peak. In 1958 an American group scaled it for the first time while Austrians led by Fritz Moravec in 1956 hit the zenith of 8,035m Gasherbrum II, second highest of Gasherbrums.
